Hello folks, I'm a first year student at Leeds Uni and am off to travel around South East Asia for the Summer. The trip will start around mid-July 2004 and go right up 'til mid-September. Iam trying to plan it to start in Kuala Lumpur then travel up to Thailand stopping in resorts and Bangkok. Then travelling across through Cambodia, up through Laos then across to Vietnam before finally entering China. The trip would then end in Hong Kong.
It seems like it would be quite expensive but it wouldn't be all that much. Most Asian countries are still developing so this means that they're cheap. As a round figure you would probably need about a grand spending money and flights will set you back about £400-£450 as you can do an open-jaw between Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong. Hong Kong will be the most expensive place but we'd be there for no more than a couple of days.
