I've been putting this off far too long. Its been close to 50 years since I've been back to Nebraska.
I am thinking of visiting in late April or early May.,This would be a return to my roots type of journey. I'd fly into Omaha on a Wednesday from Seattle and return the following Sunday. I'd rent a car and probably make my hometown of Lincoln my base. Aside from getting reaquainted with the state capitol I'd like to visit some of the small towns in that area.
This solo traveler would welcome any suggestions for special fairs, events, markets, that might be going on in the late April through Mid may period in that area of the state. I like history, antiques, museums, also fun touristy attractions. Would also appreciate tips on good, locally owned restaurants.
I'm just putting together my plans so the only "must do" on my itinerary so far ( in addition to the above schedule) is dinner Wednesday evening in Omaha at Johnny's Steakhouse.
What's the weather like in late April to mid May?
