Hi,
We love the one lane bridge, it adds so much charm and character. There has been a battle between the home owners and "Big business" for years. I think "big business" finally has won, the last I heard I think the old bridge will be coming down after they build a new, super high bridge, like the one we have on nearby Holden Beach. (we own a beach house there) A new bridge will make it easier to get on and off the island quicker, but will take away a lot of great character! That's "progress" for you. Go spend a day on "Bird Island" off of Sunset Beach. (before "progress" ruins it , too.) It is a rare find in that area, a beautiful, totally natural beach! Also, get a boat and drive up and down the Intercoastal Waterway. It is very beautiful and different from the beaches.(also has some great fishing) In Brunswick county, there are now several restaurants along the waterway, where you can dock your boat and get out and eat, overlooking the Waterway. Our favorite is "Sharky's" in Ocean Isle. (the next island north of Sunset Beach) They have great food and sometimes they have live entertainment. Congrats on your purchase, it is a great area.
Best Wishes!
