Don't even think about driving to Lake Louise in a day in the winter! It's nearly 1000 kilometers. It would take 15 hours in good winter conditions but you're going through many steep mountain passes and there will be lots of snow and you might have to travel at 20 km/hr behind big trucks in whiteout blowing snow conditions. Not worth it. Not enough time in a 7 day trip. There's plenty to do in rainy Vancouver and if you want to see mountains and snow (ski?) go to Whistler, it's only 2 hours north of the city.-Shipjohnny.
