DR has so much more to offer than it's package holiday beaches - why spend time transforming yourself into a lobster when you could be exploring the true riches of the country? Travel is safe and an experience in itself.
The real treat is found inland, in the Cordillera Central. The area around Bonao (Los Quemados especially) is so unspoiled that God himself forgot he made it! An ideal escape from the tourist hordes frying their brains on the beach.
Things to do include horse riding, hiking to waterfalls, swimming in freshwater streams, and hiring bikes and motorcycles to explore the winding roads. Write back to me if you want more information.
