travelling in Costa Rica during Easter   (2 posts)

Hello everyone! I am going to Costa Rica for the first time in a month (SO excited!) -- I had a couple questions for you experts...

    1) I am going to be there from March 17-28. From what i understand, Easter is a bad time to travel around the country. I am planning to take a bus from San Jose to Monteverde/Arenal: any advice on how to avoid the holiday chaos?

    2) My roommate and I couldnt decide on whether to go to Arenal/Monteverde, Manuel Antonio, Dominical and Osa...so we are going to try to do it all! We have ten full days of travel time and were thinking of spending the first four in MV/Arenal and then going back to SJ and driving down the Central Pacific Coast (stopping in MA and Dominical) on our way to Corcovado (the best place in Osa?) Are we being too ambitious??

    Thanks!

Hey there. Your trip is possible. Every place is pretty close in Costa Rica.

    BUT....

There won't be a lot of downtime. No resting on the beach for a day. I admire your ambition, which is achievable. But it sounds more like a marathon than a break.

Easter is a tough time to travel in Costa Rica, I think. This is traditionally when families travel one place or another and book rooms. You're going to have some damn slim pickings, I think.

That said: Heave to, Matey! Have a good trip.
