   I will be travelling solo in Tanzania in February of 2008. I would like to go on a safari, probably a 5 day safari. Would love to do Ngorogoro, Serengeti and potentially one of the other national parks. Also would love to do a cultural tour, but could do that as a side trip. Wouldn't mind seeing the Olduvai Gorge.

   Firstly, if anyone is going to be there and likes the iternery, if we can get 4 folks together that'd be cool. I arrive in Arusha on Feb 21st, climb Kili from the 23rd-29th and probably would look at Safari from the 31st/1st.

   Otherwise, as a single traveller how hard is it to book the safari I want and still keep the costs reasonable?

   What are people's thoughts on group safaris?

   Is it better to try and find people in Arusha when I am there to make up a 4some for a private safari? How hard is it to find people?

   Also, I tried doing a search but couldn't find anything - is there a list of tips to booking a safari? What are the key points that one should look for when comparing operators (other, obviously, then cost)?

   Hi!

   I am from Johannesburg, South Africa and have just come back from a fantastic safari to Ngorogoro and Serengeti! It was totally unplanned - just arrived in Dar es Salaam and was found by one of the "flycatchers" who said he was a tour operator and within an hour we had booked and paid for everything! We were in Zanzibar first so for a flight from Zanzibar to Arusha then our own private 4x4 and guide for 3 days plus the flight back from Arusha to Dar only cost us about US 700! You can get really good accomodation as well at the crater and Serengeti for about $150 all inclusive per night. It is the most breathtakingly beautiful place I have ever been to and I would recommend it! If you want contact details of the tour operator etc just send my a msg through the system.
