How long are you planning to spend in NZ?
For a honeymoon I would reckon Wanaka would be a really nice place to spend a few days. I stayed at the Purple cow and from the patio out front you get an excellent view of the lake with the mountains in the background. Milford Sound is really nice as well and worth doing a cruise on.
My favourite activities were probably a sky-dive at taupo, white water rafting at Rotorua, flying a plane at Kaikoura, doing a glacier hike at Franz Josef Glacier and canoeing at Abel Tasman.
the only activity which I was slightly disappointed with was whale watching. It was okay, just not quite as impressive as I had imagined.
