Ten years ago, I visited Negril, Jamaica. Occupancy rates were rather low at that time. I promised myself that if I ever returned, I'd entertain the idea of showing up without accomodations, and barter for a great price. Give the lull in travel over the past year, and news that occupancy rates in the Caribbean are low, I am seriously thinking that I can't go wrong by not booking in advance. My inclination is to walk up to several hotels, tell them I'm taking bids (I wouldn't stay in a dump just for a rock bottom price), and see where I end up. Just hope for a bargin, like Sandals resort for 50-75% of normal asking price.
Anyone see a problem with this plan?
